ABOUT ADI
The last four decades of conflict and a constant state of transition in Afghanistan have caused massive forced migration and internal displacement. Human rights violations have been largely recorded, and transitional justice was never ensured in the past. The consequences of state failure have posed major national, regional, and global security and humanitarian challenges that could have been widely avoided if handled properly and on time by involved actors. It would not be false to claim that the current situation is largely influenced by previous misunderstandings and misconceptions about Afghanistan’s socio-political structures and realities on the ground.
As a result, the ADI aims to benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the Afghan diaspora by not only providing insight, analyses, and policy recommendations on Afghanistan but also integrating in host countries. In this sense, the ADI is a bridge between host countries and Afghan refugees and migrants, trying to create a climate of mutual understanding, respect, and intercultural dialogue to pave the way for better integration in destination countries.
The members of ADI have extensive knowledge and experience about political structures, human rights situations, forced migration, conflict, and peacebuilding in Afghanistan. In addition, the members have a wide network of national and international academics, researchers, and partners that enable them to access credible resources and conduct research in order to provide analyses and policy recommendations on Afghanistan and the Afghan Diaspora inside and beyond Germany.
